Who can access the Service?

We offer free counselling for:

  • People living with HIV

  • Family, carers or partners of people living with HIV

  • People experiencing issues or wishing to explore their sexuality or gender

We have a range of appointments available Monday to Saturday to best suit you. Counselling is also available via phone and video call.

What can I Expect?

50 minute sessions take place in a quiet, private room within the warm and welcoming environment of the What? Centre, Dudley. During counselling you will be encouraged to explore your emotions and talk about how you are feeling. Your therapist will listen and support you without judgement. Our counsellors provide a supportive, confidential space where you can freely voice your feelings.

Therapists are trained to degree or masters level, with experience working in sexual health.

Our counselling service has accreditation from from the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), has been awarded the Queens Award (equivalent to an MBE for the voluntary sector) and has the investors in People standard.

How do I refer for Counselling?

We encourage self-referral through our online referral form. When choosing the support you are looking for, please tick the box BeeHIVe (HIV and LGBTQ support for over 18s).

What will Happen Next?

Once we have received your referral, one of our counsellors will contact you within two weeks to arrange an initial appointment for an assessment. This is for us to learn more about the issues affecting you and to find out whether counselling may benefit you.
